Mississippi Burning 16" x 20" Acrylic on Canvas I grew up in the south. I knew that people of color were treated differently. I got into trouble once because I drank water from the "Colored Only" fountain in the building where my dad worked. Years later I was asked to work on a project about a football player from Philifelphia, Mississippi, the town where an infamous burning of a church, and the murder of three civil rights activists sparked outrage and changed our country forever. This is not the church in Philidelphia, MS that burned but a reminder of the many churches that have burned since. We are not finished ...
